Colored Pencils
Towards the last months of 2025 I was encountered by a twist in the script. My land lord would be selling the house I was renting at the time and I would need to evacuate the building before it enveloped into a non existent time frame. Due to the short term notice I decided that instead of going with the first place that twiddled my jitter ( which is how I ended up there, for the land I was living in before that one was sold off as well ) apparently I’m good at this realistate business merely by presence. So I sent everything of in a pair of turtle doves to be held in the warmth of time as I coast on in the new horizon. A gentle breeze brought forth an incased rainbow and just like an epic moment in a video game, a short and hopeful sound was heard announcing thee attainment of a new item for the following stages.
I’ve always had them around since I can remember, at times I would doodle with them but never had I sat down to make a series of works just with the medium, it’s been a joyful discovery what the pencils wish to show or how they present themselves through me. Something that I have learned over the years, when delving in a new medium remain flexible and open in order to allow for it to shape the process. It’s also a great way to discover new styles, so if you feel like the creative juices are running low, try working with a different medium but allow it to teach you different perspectives. In other words, try not to make the same thing you normally would, unless you’re going from two dimensional work to three dimensions, that’s also fun to try out.
So what is it that I really enjoy about this medium. Well gee willikers batman, it’s something so simple…. the texture. The texture it creates on paper or fabric is really nice. Sure, I could maybe recreate it with acrylics but paint has its own lovely characteristics which I really enjoy as well.
